Junior Cast - participation in show finales

(Article - lists revised on 7th January 2012)

Junior members are not in the finale of every performance; details of the A and B Groups and their involvement in finale are now available. Juniors will be given a letter on 5th January, on which there is a slip to be returned as soon as possible.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS: As far as we can ascertain members travelling together are in the same group, but please do check that is the case, and that you understand what is happening. We will find it very difficult to make changes later, and we do need your confirmation and agreement to the listings as soon as possible - preferably by return.

View and/or print off a Junior A and B Groups for finale and check who is also in your group

Please note the above list has been revised and is now issue 2 - it only effects two youngsters and they know about it - however cast management team members who may have printed off issue 1 should now substitute it with the revised list - Thank you.

Grand Fund Raising Draw

We are in the process of establishing a Grand Fund Raising Draw, principally sponsored by Vodaphone.

The 1st Prize is a state of the art Laptop and 2nd Prize an Ipad. There will other lesser but still desirable prizes.

In the very near future books of tickets will be available, we would expect that each member sells at least one book - we will be talking to Gang parents/guardians about this.

The plan is to SELL the tickets to people outside the Gang, not just expecting Gang Members to buy them, but of course, you will be welcome to do so. This draw by nature of the prizes has the potential to raise a fair sum of money, and we cannot hide the fact that it may well be the 'event' that tips the balance this year and keep Gang Show financially afloat.

There will be an incentive scheme to encourage people to sell lots of tickets. More details will follow. Please note that this is in addition to the smaller raffles (mentioned elsewhere) that will still be held at each show performance. The draw tickets will go on sale as soon as possible and the Draw Made after the interval of the last night in the show run

Recycling of Computer Printer Cartridges - Fund raising scheme

Well done to those who brought things along on the 19th - we need a lot more - so please do your bit - for both Gang Show funds and the envioronment !

Although we have been doing this for some time we have never really promoted it to the Gang in general - and yet it has earned in the last twelve months over £150. What can we collect? All types of cartridges - laser and inkjet - any make - but original brands do get us a better price.

NOT JUST YOURS ! You can collect from others - family, friends, neighbours, both their personal usage and quite possibly from their or your own work place? This has the potential of raising much needed funds, with the minimum of effort. The next collection day for these and the scheme below will be on Sunday 29th January, so start collecting and sorting now !

Textile Recycling - A NEW fund raising scheme

Well hardly new, 'recycling operatives', rag and bone men, have been around for years.

However we don't want any bones - just 'rags' or to be more precise (and in modern vogue) - any recyclable textiles.

What can we collect? All types of unwanted textiles including: All kinds of clothing, Shoes, Bags, Belts, Hats, Curtains, Towels, Bedding.

The only requirement that they must be clean and dry.

So here is an opportunity for you to clear out your wardrobe and cupboards, and help, not just Gang Show, but other charities and the environment as well. We have registered with 'Phil the bag' who will pay Gang Show 50p per kilo.

These textiles are then sold on and/or distributed to people who can use and enjoy them in developing countries, which at the same time saves our environment from the burden of resources going to landfill.

We shall store items you collect/donate at the Gang Wardrobe, until it becomes economic to request a collection. But for ease of operation we shall have collection days (on a Thursday rehearsal for instance) when you can bring in your contributions and they will then be transported to the Wardrobe. First collection as above will be on January 19th.

Show Raffle - at performances

Now is the time to pass on any unwanted, surplus, or indeed 'superseded by the latest edition' gifts and items that would be suitable for the Show Raffle prizes. These raffles are held at each performance of the show, so we are in need of lots of prizes. We do appeal to local businesses and organisations for donations of prize items, if you have one of them in mind, or know someone who can put in a good word for us, please speak to Matthew Skeet at rehearsal, before approaching anyone, to insure we do not duplicate any requests.

Subscriptions and Membership costs

The Gang Show Budget is extremely tight, and it is invisaged that it will remain so for 2012. As a result, at Wash-up, it was decided to reinstate the 'Shoe Fund' for all cast members (it had in the past only been for female cast and was discontiued when Gang Show financial state no longer needed it). The Shoe Fund will help (a little) to offset the £5,500 needed each year to maintain the Gang Show Wardrobe. (We bought £520 worth of specialist dance shoes last year).
Non-cast fees have also been adjusted to reflect the actual costs. We are very aware that personal budgets are very tight at the moment but if Gang Show is to survive every member must do their bit. After all, for a cast member it is still less than 20p for each hour of activity, with a badge, a photo, two meals and a T shirt included!

Please note : The Gang Show is reliant on membership & joining fees and deposits, being paid at a time of year when rehearsal and other accommodation is a major expense and income from other sources e.g. Tickets. Patrons and Sponsorship and Fund Raising is not available - These fees cover the cost of what each member receives each year, all be it mostly towards the end of the run. A small amount of the fees paid by cast goes towards the upkeep of the specialist shoes issued to cast members for the show, and a contribution towards the £5,500 pound a year that it costs to maintain the Gang Show Wardrobe.

•     ALL members pay an annual subscription plus other fees as appropriate. These fees are collected in November 2011.
  
  These fees are as follows :
  
  
•     Subscriptions for 2012 show : This pays for :
  
  The Current Year Gang Show T Shirt.
  (This MUST be worn at all rehearsals during Matinee teas and other non uniformed events of the Gang Show)
  Commemorative Year badges
  Individual portrait photograph (issued at the close of the show)
  Insurance, Newsletters, postage and membership administration.
  The meals provided during the breaks between the matinee and evening performances on Thurday and Saturday of the show run.

All fees are based on the actual cost of the items/goods received by the individual, with very little margin.
Family Membership is open to two or more members from one family residing at the same address.
There is an opt out of T Shirt option for non-cast and Senior Cast Members where subs are reduced by the cost of the T Shirt - please note that all cast MUST have a wearable - correctly fitting T shirt - but remeber the shirt is also a souvenir of the show.


•     Cast Member Shoe Fund : £5 : This is a contribution by every cast member
  
  This helps maintain the Gang Show Wardrobe, each cast member is provided with white, and black, pairs of jazz dance shoes for use in final rehearsals and the show, and also in some cases tap shoes throughout rehearsal time. This fund ensures the stock is maintained in good order. Most cast members will be provided with at least six changes of costume for the show at no futher cost to the individual. Although to store the Gang Show Costume Stock costs around £5,500 per year.



•     New members Joining Fee : £7.50 : Payable by any member who has never been a member of Gosport Gang before :
  
  This covers the cost of the Emblem Scarf which is awarded to members, once they have completed a 'performance' or to those who contributed equivalent time and effort if a not a cast member.



•     Script deposit : £5.00 : Required from all CAST members.
  
  This will be returned on the surrender of the script folder, in good order, at the end of the show run.
  Parents/Guardians are encouraged that this deposit should be paid out of the children's own 'pocket money' - The purpose of this deposit it to get membership to appreciate the value/cost of producing the scripts.



•     Sample fees
  
  A new member of cast who is independent member would therefore pay a total of £42.50, of which £5 would be returned if the script folder is returned.
  
  A family with two cast members one new member and the other a previous member would pay a total of £70.00 of which £10 would be returned if the script folders were returned



•     How can I pay ?
  
  Were possible, (to save on administration time and effort,) it is prefered that all monies should be paid at one time.
  
  However it is possible to pay in instalments or (new for 2012) by standing order. Any such payments must be completed by end of March 2012. (Please note comment about Gang Income above)
  
  A minimum deposit of £15 should be paid on acceptance into the cast, normally on the first rehearsal of the accepted cast,
  This is £10 for the members T Shirt and the £5 script deposit. (Non cast members deposit will therefore be £10)



•     In addition to subs Cast members must provide :
  
  Cast members are required to possess the following items in time for the actual show run.
  
  All cast :
  COMPLETE, CORRECT uniform of their section.
  
  Male cast :
  Plain white socks and white underwear.
  
  Female Cast :
  White underwear.
  
  If any potential member would be unable to apply for the show due to the lack of any of these obligatory items or difficulty in affording membership fees due to genuine hardship, the Gang may be able to assist, please speak (in confidence) to any member of the leadership team.
  
•     Any hidden costs ?
  
  The are no further obligatory costs (Parents/Guardians be warned - we run a tuck shop !)
  If a member of gang would prefer a Polo Shirt rather than a 'T' Shirt as their issue with membership pack a surcharge will apply

Remember - the best way to help finiacially is to sell more tickets - or find us some sponsors .

Non cast and Senior Members of Cast may opt out of having a 2012 T shirt, if they have a smart, wearable, correctly fitting one, from a previous year, available.

Payments for Membership Fees, Patronage and/or Gala Tickets can now be paid for by standing order - full details available on request.
